Vishnu Vijayakumar earned his PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Strasbourg, France, in 2020. His research focused on chemical doping, morphology control, and structural characterisation of organic semiconductors. He was awarded the PhD Thesis Prize from the Physical Chemistry département for his work on rub-aligned polymers.

After a brief career break due to parenthood and the COVID-19 pandemic, he transitioned into perovskite solar cell research. In 2022, he was awarded the Carl Trygger Postdoctoral Fellowship and joined Uppsala University under the supervision of Prof. Gerrit Boschloo, working on the chemical doping of hole transport layers. In 2023, he received the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellowship (MSCA-GF).  Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at Eindhoven University of Technology, working with Prof. René Janssen. His research focuses on improving the stability and efficiency of narrow-bandgap single-junction solar cells and all-perovskite tandem devices.
