Research topics of the M2N group

The research of the group is exploratory in nature, but with the ultimate goal of creating solutions for societal problems, with energy as a main focus. We aim at creating ideas and developing new scientific insights in the area of novel unconventional semiconductors. Creating efficient functional devices requires accurate understanding of the physical phenomena and control over materials and interfaces on all relevant length scales. We combine the synthesis of new molecules and materials with optical spectroscopy, advanced scanning probe microscopy techniques, and charge transport studies. Developing, understanding, and modeling of prototype optoelectronic devices, such as light-emitting devices, solar cells, photodiodes, solar fuel cells, and batteries is an essential part of our activities.

Our research topics are within three main research themes:

Solar cells, polaritons and photodiodes

Organic light-emitting diodes

Storing renewable energy
