Pietro Caprioglio is an Assistant Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), working at the interface of photovoltaics, materials science, and artificial intelligence. He received his PhD in Experimental Physics from the University of Potsdam and Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford, where he combined advanced optoelectronic techniques, drift-diffusion simulations, and device engineering to understand and mitigate the fundamental mechanisms limiting the performance of perovskite solar cells. He later joined Hanwha Qcells as a Senior Research Scientist, leading research activities that integrated machine learning, advanced characterisation, and device physics to accelerate the development of high-efficiency and stable silicon–perovskite tandem technologies. He now leads the Energy Materials Hybrid Lab group, part of the Materials to Optoelectronic DevicesĀ Group (M2D) at TU/e, focusing on AI-enhanced optoelectronic characterisation, materials discovery, and autonomous laboratories for the development of next-generation energy materials and high-efficiency solar cells.
